Train To Busan 2 - Peninsular

Four years after South Korea's total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences’ worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best-or worst-of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances. (Source: Rotten Tomatoes)

It was undeniably exciting when they drop the news regarding the upcoming Train to Busan sequel. Despite having different characters and casts, as a fan of Train to Busan the anticipation is still there. Especially when I found out that Gang Dong Won is the main character of the sequel. I absolutely love Gang Dong Won after watching few of his movies such as The Boy Who Vanished. He is amazing in portraying his character and made me absorb in the film.

However, in this sequel of Train to Busan, I absolutely hate his character. None of the characters in this film are likable. All of them have this idiocy that made them hateful including the main characters. Being “stunned” when facing dangers are quite common in this film among the main characters despite being so experienced in the situations. I can’t seem to remember how many times I scream “Run! Move!” to the screen when watching this film. It is so frustrating.

Additionally, this film also includes quite a few car chase scenes which made you feel like you are watching Mad Max plus zombies. The CGI for the car chase is so obvious that I don’t really feel the thrill at all. All and all, It is a pity to have such great actors and actresses in this movie but the story was kind of flunk.
